Holiday apartment Sölden Ötztal Cycle Marathon

Apartment in Sölden with kitchen for individual meals

Every athlete knows that the race isn't just won on the Kühtai pass—it's won in the kitchen. On the night before the start, every gram of carbohydrates counts, and in the morning, you don't need anything that might upset your stomach. A standard hotel room limits your options: rigid dining hours and unfamiliar buffet ingredients are risks you simply don't need.

Book apartments & accommodations here
  • Fully equipped: Our kitchens feature a stove, oven, refrigerator, and plenty of tableware. Prepare your tried-and-tested pasta meal the evening before and enjoy it in peace on your private balcony with mountain views—far away from hectic dining halls.
  • Your schedule: The starting gun goes off at 06:30 AM. Many athletes swear by eating 3 hours beforehand. Want to have your porridge at 03:30 AM? No problem. You eat your breakfast in your cycling gear, whenever it suits you.
  • Stress-free morning: No queuing for the coffee machine, no noise from other guests. Just you, your focus, and your breakfast.
  • Bread roll delivery service: If you would like fresh bread, we will hang your order on your door by early morning. Just let us know by Saturday evening.

Short ride to the start of the Ötztal Cycle Marathon: Roll downhill by bike to the Giggijochbahn cable car.

On race morning, every minute of sleep and every calorie saved counts. Many participants staying in the valley floor struggle with road closures, overcrowded parking lots, and pre-race anxiety in the crowds. Instead, you get to leverage our geographic location advantage.

  1. Warm-up on the bike: You step onto your bike right at our doorstep and simply coast down the panoramic road.
  2. Direct access: After approximately 1.6 kilometers, you will reach the B186 main road almost exactly at the level of the Giggijoch cable car.
  3. To the starting block: From here, it is just a few pedal strokes on flat or slightly downhill terrain to the starting blocks, which are traditionally lined up between the BP gas station and the Freizeit Arena.
  4. Your advantage: You arrive with gently warmed-up muscles, avoid any car-related stress, and remain more relaxed than your competition.

The Ötztaler Radmarathon is an emotional team event. While athletes battle their way over the Kühtai (2,020 m), the Brenner Pass (1,377 m), and the Jaufen Pass (2,090 m), family and friends shouldn't have to wait around in the room. Thanks to the Ötztal Inside Summer Card—which is included during your stay in the summer months (from your 2nd day)—the day becomes a highlight for your companions, too.

The perfect fan day:

  • Experience the start: You can see the athletes off in the morning and then enjoy a relaxed breakfast in your apartment.
  • Mountains instead of the valley: Use the Gaislachkoglbahn cable car (free with the Summer Card) to reach over 3,000 meters. Visit the James Bond cinematic installation 007 ELEMENTS or simply soak in the panorama.
  • Relaxation: Admission to the swimming pools in the valley (e.g., Freizeit Arena) or the bathing lake in Umhausen is also included.
  • Livestream & atmosphere: Relax on the sun terrace at our Panorama Alm while following the race via live ticker or stream.
  • The finish line: As the race nears its end (starting from approx. 1:30 PM for the winners), you can reach the finish area in no time thanks to our convenient location, ready to welcome your heroes.

After 227 kilometers and the final battle on the Timmelsjoch pass, many road cyclists dread every single extra meter of climbing. The thought of having to pedal uphill to your accommodation after crossing the finish line is a nightmare. Since we are located above the center, we have the ideal solution for tired legs: the Zentrum Shuttle.

  • The Shuttle: This free funicular connects the Sölden town center (entrance near the MPREIS and SPAR supermarkets) directly to our district, Innerwald.
  • Officially permitted: You are allowed to take your road bike into the cabin! This is expressly permitted.
  • Operating hours: The shuttle runs daily from 08:30 AM to 10:00 PM. Whether you arrive as a top rider after 7 hours or as a true fighter after 13 hours—the shuttle will get you up here.
  • The last stretch: From the mountain station in Innerwald, it is just a short, flat-to-gently-inclining ride or walk (approx. 10-minute walk) to our resort.
  • Alternative: The village bus (Line 52) stops right at our doorstep at the “Grünwald” bus stop and is free of charge for you.
Wellness and regeneration after the Ötztal Cycle Marathon

Regeneration in the wellness area with heated outdoor pool & sauna

Once you’ve picked up your finisher jersey, the best part begins: recovery. Instead of squeezing into a cramped shower cubicle, we offer you wellness quality that is usually only found in 4-star hotels.

  • Infinity outdoor pool: Our pool is heated year-round to approx. 32 °C (90 °F). There is nothing better for sore muscles than floating in warm water while gazing directly at the mountains you have just conquered.
  • Sauna world: For deep relaxation, a Finnish sauna and a steam bath are at your disposal.
  • Textile sauna: If you want to relax with your family or friends immediately after the race, make use of our textile sauna—you can simply keep your swimwear on.

Your road bike is a valuable investment. We know that, and we treat it accordingly. It doesn't belong on the balcony or in the bedroom, but in a professional environment.

  • High security: Our bike garage is video-monitored and only accessible with your personal keycard.
  • Preparation: For that final check on the evening before the race, a workbench with a repair stand, professional tools, and a floor pump is at your disposal. Check your tire pressure and gears in peace.
  • Aftercare: To make sure your bike shines just as bright as you do in your finisher photo, you can clean it at our washing station right in front of the garage.
  • E-bike ready: If you or your companions have e-bikes, there are plenty of charging options available.

During the high season (summer), large supermarkets like MPREIS and SPAR in the village center are often open on Sundays (usually with shortened hours). However, to be absolutely stress-free on race day, we strongly advise you: Do your grocery shopping for breakfast, energy bars, and supplies on Saturday when you arrive. On Sunday, you want to focus 100% on your race-day mindset.

This is important for supporters: The Timmelsjoch (Passo del Rombo) is usually completely closed to normal traffic on race day from approx. 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM. The Kühtai and the Brenner Pass are closed even earlier. If fans want to cheer you on at the Timmelsjoch, they must be up there very early or approach via the toll road from the South Tyrolean side (Moos in Passeier) before the closure takes effect. Make sure to plan this well in advance!

Even without a race number, the week leading up to the Ötztaler is a celebration. Thousands of cyclists are in town. You can ride sections of the course individually (e.g., the climb to the Rettenbach Glacier at 2,800 m or the ride up to the Timmelsjoch pass). Additionally, the “Gahe Line” of the Bike Republic Sölden starts right outside our doorstep—a flow trail, perfect if you want to hop on a mountain bike for a change of pace.

Yes, we have a central laundry room equipped with coin-operated washing machines and dryers. You can wash your sweaty cycling gear immediately after the race so that it's clean and dry before you pack it back into your suitcase. There is nothing worse than old cycling clothes sitting in your luggage.

From the finish area, it is about a 5-minute walk or roll to the entrance of the Zentrum Shuttle. The ride takes only a few minutes. From the top station in Innerwald, it is a comfortable 10-minute walk (flat/slightly uphill) to our resort. It is definitely the most relaxing way to overcome the 150-meter elevation gain from the valley floor.
